Chromfree® basic bricks are used to line the firing zone of cement rotary kilns and lime kilns.
Since a proportion of the chrome oxide contained in magnesia-chrome bricks might turn into a hazardous substance during use, magnesia-chrome refractories may potentially be damaging to the environment. We developed materials substitute for chrome ore and produced a revolutionary Chromfree? bricks which compares favorably with magnesia-chrome bricks. Chromfree? bricks have received considerable acclaim for their environmentally-friendly characteristics recycling and disposal.

Practical application of these chrome-free basic bricks in cement rotary kilns was commended in a technical achievement award by the Ceramic Society of Japan.
