Application of outstanding corrosion-resistant refractories and unique installation techniques have yielded long and stable operation of waste melters. We contribute to preservation of the environment through development of superior refractories for waste kilns.

IIn Japan, most municipal waste is incinerated to reduce volume and ensure hygiene, and the ash buried in landfills. On the other hand, most industrial waste is buried directly. Disposal sites have become fewer and fewer in recent years due to the dramatic increase in waste generated, and the consequent volume for disposal is becoming a problem for the future.
A range of waste melt treatments are employed to reduce volume (to less than one tenth) and the processed materials utilized effectively. In particular, waste melted at high temperatures produces a glassy mass which is cooled, crushed and utilized as a road bed material.
The glass-like liquid formed at this high temperature reacts readily with the refractory linings, and furthermore, fluctuation of glass composition caused by variations in waste composition affect the refractories. We are developing superior corrosion resistant refractories and unique maintenance techniques to meet the needs of our customers in this area.
